  • I am not good in art, can I join art therapy sessions?

Yes! You do not need to be good in art, or having prior knowledge and experience in art. Anyone, regardless of their level of art expertise can benefit from the process of art-making and art explorations in art therapy sessions.

  • What happens to the artwork created after a session?

The artwork created during sessions are an integral part of the therapy process. I will keep confidential records of the artworks and will store it safely and remains confidential until the end of the therapy sessions. There will be times that the artwork may be returned back throughout the sessions on a case-by-case basis.

As the artwork created is strictly confidential, it will remain confidential even after the therapy session has ended. Parents are highly encouraged not to share images of recordings of the artworks created by their children in any available platforms.

  • What to expect in an art therapy session?

A common misconception is that the client will create the artwork and the art therapist will interpret. This is not the case. Art therapy sessions are organic as the art therapists guides the client to reflect through creative expressions or explore the art materials provided.

In art therapy sessions, therapeutic interventions and processes using art media will be utilized. Art materials will be provided.

  • Do I need to create an artwork in every session?

Not necessarily. There will be times where no artwork is created, and the session will then focus on sensory and kinesthetic explorations with the art materials. This allows for a session filled with explorations and body-mind connections.
