Trini Tan

Trini obtained her Masters of Applied Psychology (Counselling) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NIE-NTU).

Trini first gained experience working with individuals with mental health issues in a psychiatric institution setting. She then gained further exposure working in the community as well as school settings. Trini has provided psychotherapy to clients of all ages ranging from children and adolescents to adults and the elderly. She has helped clients through issues such as; - Depression - Anxiety - Complex trauma - Relationship issues - Eating disorder - Anger Issues - Socio-emotional issues (children and adolescents) - Behavioural issues (children and adolescents) - Adjustment issues (children and adolescents)

Trini has also conducted educational talks and counselling workshops as well as parental training sessions.

Trini believes in fostering a strong therapeutic relationship with all her clients by ensuring a safe space for clients to speak about their difficulties in a non-judgemental and non-critical environment. She also firmly believes in an individual’s ability to overcome personal trials and difficulties by focusing on supporting and developing their personal strengths.

Trini adopts an integrated approach to therapy that is individually tailored to each client’s unique and personal history, presentation and culture. Trini mainly employs the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Apart from being a psychologist, Trini is also a mother to a beautiful baby girl, loves traveling, engaging in adventure sports and enjoys cooking.

Trini provides therapy in both English and Mandarin, via face-to-face and Zoom sessions.
